Sheila Hancock is a nationally acclaimed impressionist oil painter who has won many awards. Her most prestigious award was winning a competition that earned her the honor of having one of her paintings hang permanently in the Georgia Governor's Mansion. A North Carolina native, she loves spending time at her mountain home near Boone where she paints the local scenery. Hancock says, "I want viewers of my art to feel the high country's lush greenery, misty distance mountains, the cool of the mountain streams, and the depth of their reflections, to smell the colors of the grass and hay and the earth by the rivers and to notice the many colors in the clouds here and the different blues in the sky."
